OpenCellId Clients
On this page you will find two programs for mobile phones that track positions and cell sites. The programs will give location, information and cell site information. Your positions can be displayed on a map i.e. Google map.
The applications utilize a GPS device to get the location either internal (if such exists) or external (bluetooth). The applications are available for
- Sony Ericsson JP7 / JP8 phones, updated 2009-11-28
- Windows Mobile (.NET 2.0) phones, updated 2009-11-28
Besides that you understand where you are and to which cell site you are connected the applications can report cell site information together with position to the OpennCellId database.
OpenCellId is an open source project aiming to create a global database with cell sites

Why?
- I have been intrested in LBS (how has not, LOL). In my "research work" I did some snipplets that has been compiled to these two programs.
- I liked to understand how to developed applocations on mobile phones and understand the environment a little bit better.
- I hooked up the applications to the OpenCellId database just for fun, it is an honourable intiative...
